Taste York and support local business on Thursday at the Shambles Market!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new weekly event has been announced for the Shambles Market which hopes to inspire York\u2019s residents to support local food businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samples and freebies will be on offer at the \u2018Taste York\u2019 launch next Thursday 14 July; the event will then take place every Thursday from 9am to 5pm in the \u2018Newgate\u2019 <\/i>section of the Shambles marketplace. (The area by the Shambles Tavern.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Newgate area will be solely limited to food traders looking to offer a local alternative to the weekly supermarket shop, where shoppers can buy quality food for the family, and get to know the people behind the produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traders will include favourites such as Roy Dean – That Cookies and Fudge Guy, who specailises in a range of home made fudges, with flavours such as salted caramel, chili chocolate and rum and raisin<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If every adult in York spent just \u00a35 a week in local businesses, instead of online or in the supermarket, it would be worth more than \u00a340m a year going back into our local economy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
