Concealed windows during the recent building work left too much to my imagination. What is King Chips going to be? I tracked down owner Myles Matthews to give me the truth about what&#8217;s happening behind those windows.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the story behind King Chips?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It all began when we were on our honeymoon traveling around Europe and tried the frites in cones for the first time and couldn&#8217;t wait to eat them again, once we came back to the U.K. We realised we couldn&#8217;t find them\u2026 so our idea of Kings Chips started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We wanted to bring high quality, where the customers will be able to enjoy freshly prepared fried potato chips like we did. Wether they are out discovering the city, or on a quick lunch break \u2014 this is perfect for all the family. It is the trend of the moment, street food is likely to become the new gastronomic trend in our country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What can the people of York expect from King Chips?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;High quality Dutch potatoes which are freshly washed, peeled, sliced fried and then served in a cone with a choice of over 25 dips! Our business will not be the average takeaway, we are trying to achieve high standards and a balance between tradition and quality.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you have an alcohol licence?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We do not have a alcohol license we will be serving cold freshing soft drinks.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you have an opening date yet?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are hoping to be open on the 10th or 11th December. On our opening day we will be offering lots of free fries for everyone to try and enjoy!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bethan, our colleague who used to live in the Netherlands, wants to know if you\u2019ll be serving satay sauce<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;At the moment we are trying to source satay sauce-but we have so many other unusual and delicious sauces to go atop your yummy Dutch frites! Once you try you won&#8217;t want any other chips!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best chips in York? That certainly is a confident claim. Free fries on opening day is an opportunity we&#8217;d be silly to miss. We are intrigued and aren&#8217;t sure if we can think of 25 kinds of dip!
